Italy Companion helps English speakers with everyday Italian, culture, and practical life in Italy. This app does not require an account.

We do not ask you to create an account or sign in.
Your choice of profile (Visiting, Studying, Living here) is stored only on this iPhone or iPad.
Checklist ticks in Living are stored only on this device.
Favorites and similar preferences are stored only on this device.
We do not run our own servers for your profile or usage.
We do not sell your personal data.
This app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Microphone access is used only when you tap Say to practice pronunciation.
Speech practice defaults to on-device recognition. Audio is not sent for server recognition in this mode. Downloading language models may require internet before first use.
If you select Apple service in Profile → Speech practice, Apple may process your audio under Apple’s privacy policy. The app never switches to this mode automatically.
Text-to-speech (Hear, Play all) uses Apple’s built-in voices on your device.
You can turn off microphone or speech permissions anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.

Links to websites, government portals, or the App Store open outside this app. Those services have their own privacy policies.
Author’s picks (Profile) lists services the app author finds useful. They are editorial suggestions, not paid placements unless clearly labeled otherwise.
